This race series began as the Hagerstown Fun run Series in 1978. Sometime in the 80’s, the CRRC began organizing the events. Tom Ausherman was a founding member of the CRRC. He ran 59 of the 1st 60 Summer Series races. He passed away shortly after one of the races in 1988. The CRRC renamed the Summer Series races in his memory.
